TOTO GALLERY·MA

TOTO GALLERY·MA

TOTO GALLERY·MA is a gallery specializing in architecture that is operated by TOTO as part of the company's social contribution program. The gallery takes its name from the unique Japanese concept of ma-ai, which describes the spatiotemporal intervals or connective voids that are perceived between people, time, and space.
TOTO GALLERY·MA has been organizing solo exhibitions aimed at conveying the rich worldviews of architects through a wide variety of mediums since being established in 1985. All exhibitions are made using a unique approach where we give exhibitors full autonomy over the exhibition design so that they can shape the three spaces of our gallery-which includes an open-air courtyard-into creative works in themselves. This approach has enabled us to produce exhibitions that are deeply infused with the exhibitors' messages, ideas, and values, which visitors can absorb through experiencing the spaces.
