WATOWA GALLERY

WATOWA GALLERY

AKIRA FUJIMOTO SOLO EXHIBITION "Babel of the Sea" exhibition view (2022.9.11-9.30)

Since 2019, WATOWA GALLERY has been providing opportunities for art communication in a variety of settings. Focusing on young contemporary Japanese artists with a new sense of "Japanese philosophy" as seen in street culture and fashion, we have held 32 exhibitions in the past 3 years. In 2021, we will launch a new art award, the "WATOWA ART AWARD," with the aim of revitalizing the art scene in Japan. The award has attracted attention for its unprecedented art awards in terms of the age range of applicants and the breadth and number of experts who serve as judges.

WATOWA GALLERY, which has been active without specifying the location, will have a gallery space "WATOWA GALLERY" as its activity base for the first time, and WATOWA INC. will also operate the gallery space, which will be operated under the slogan of "culture starting with this generation. The space will coexist with "THE BOX TOKYO," an incubation facility that will conduct experimental activities to nurture a new art scene under the slogan of "culture that starts with this generation.
A former corrugated cardboard factory in Imado, a corner of the Asakusa area, was renovated to create a space that will complement art and its related activities. The space will be used for various activities, and will be renamed "WATOWA GALLERY" or "THE BOX TOKYO" depending on the nature of the activities.
