Kanagawa Kenmin Hall

Kanagawa Kenmin Hall

Known as one of the largest cultural facilities in Japan, the Kanagawa Kenmin Hall opened in 1975 on this site overlooking the Port of Yokohama. Since then, the hall has hosted a wide range of events, from performances by leading European opera houses to pop concerts and general public use. In addition, the gallery, which is one of the largest in the prefecture (see page), has hosted many solo exhibitions of up-and-coming artists, along with general public use.
The Kanagawa Arts Foundation, which has been in charge of the management and operation of the facility since 1994, is dedicated to the creation and promotion of arts and culture as the center of cultural facilities in the prefecture, through the independent production of opera and ballet performances, invitations to world-standard contemporary dance performances, and special exhibitions of young artists.
