The Suntory Museum of Art is based on the principle of "beauty in daily life. Open up beauty”. For example, it connects the old with the new. Connecting beauty with beauty without being bound by the framework of the medieval, early modern, or modern era. Connecting East and West. Connecting beauty with beauty without being bound by cultural boundaries such as country or ethnicity. New discoveries will open up through free and bold connections. Intellectual impressions will open up. The museum would like to open up a new relationship between people and beauty by connecting them. "Tie" and "open". These two words are the pillars of our activities.
The museum currently holds about six special exhibitions a year, organized by ten curators, and attracts about 300,000 visitors a year. The museum's collection includes approximately 3,000 items, including one national treasure, 15 important cultural properties, and 21 important art objects, ranging from Japanese antiques such as paintings, ceramics, lacquerware, and textiles to East and West glass.
