TOKYO METROPOLITAN TEIEN ART MUSEUM

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, main building, front exterior
The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum was built in 1933 as the residence of Prince Asaka. The museum was opened in 1983 as a unique art museum that harmonizes the Art Deco style main building itself as a work of art, the exhibitions that take advantage of the space, and the lush garden.
The interior of the main building was designed by Henri Lapin, René Lalique, and other famous French designers in the Art Deco style.
The garden also retains the atmosphere of the time when it was a residence of the Imperial Household, with an open garden covered with lawn and a Japanese garden with hills and ponds that undulate, allowing visitors to enjoy seasonal changes such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
We will continue to protect cultural assets and create new values, and provide opportunities for everyone to appreciate art works.
